The Effects Of Quantitative Easing

Everyone is talking about the economy and in doing so they’re utilizing buzz words like “quantitative easing,” and “asset purchases.” They can have a big impact on the foreign currency exchange and it’s for such reason that it’s important to have a true understanding of what they mean.

As you become a student of the trading business, you’ll come to realize that by lowering interest rates, a country is able to boost its economy. That’s why the central banks tend to increase their lending activities and motivate people to increase their spending. But when the interest rates are already at their lowest lows, the central banks have no room to lower them further. So the next step is for them to pump money into the system and that’s what’s referred to as implementing quantitative easing. Some economists call this employing “financial facilities.”

Many people who invest in Forex watch for signs of QE as they know that the currency of that country will depreciate in value. And at times, the mere announcement of their intentions to begin with quantitative easing causes the currency to appreciate. This happens when investors view the measure as a positive move. Thus, you can surmise it’s a major factor in trend identification.

Quantitative easing is viewed as positive because it’s aimed at stimulating economic growth. Furthermore, as the central bank (an important player) buys bonds, yields are usually lower. This benefits businesses as the costs of borrowing are lower.
